After the designation of Mashad and Lalejin as the global cities of gemstones and pottery in 2016 by the World Crafts Council, two festivals to mark the event will be organized in the Iranian cities on August 9 and August 13 respectively.
Head Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Masoud Soltanifar and his deputy, Bahman Namvar-Motlaq as well as jurors from Australia and Oman are to attend both festivals.
Designations made by the World Crafts Council will provide a valuable opportunity for promoting activities about precious and semi-precious stones and pottery in the cities. It will also help upgrade Iran’s global status in the field of handicrafts.
